Chinese Trucks

truck.jpg

Well, what can I say. I spent countless hours on the back of those trucks. Not very comfi, that's for sure. But then, it was the only option to move from one place to the other. MOT? Erm, yes, dream on mate. In Nepal, when it was really cold, like seriously cold, bus and truck drivers used to set up a fire under the engine to warm it up before starting it. I was pleasantly surprised (well sort of) to see that those ways of convincing a diesel engine to start and run were just the same on the other side of the Himalayans.

Palkhor Lamasery - The Gate

At the time we arrived in Gyantse there was a sort of important (I guess) religious (I guess) sort of festival (I guess) taking place. Loads of people all over the place. Good mood, fine spirit. Goes to show, these days I would just go online and try to find out. Back then we simply didn't know. And I still don't know.

The Main Chorten

mainchorten.jpg

I should write about this beautiful building, but all I can think of is the fact that these photos are almost twenty years old, and I am wondering, is the man on the bicycle still alive? Does he know that I took this picture? If so, does he remember? While the picture was taken, did he realise that he would go online twenty years later? Of course not, how would he know. Do I have the right to take him online? I hope so.

Reminder: This weblog is dedicated to the people of Tibet.
