Palkhor Lamasery
The area around Gyantse's main chorten is called Palkhor Lamasery. And it lied in ruins. The old monastery walls are still there but apparently, ages ago there were all kinds of buildings within the walls that have disappeared. Buddha knows why.

500 Years Ago
That's when this fort was built. Bloody impressive. Did I mention the sky before? Of course I did. Remember, it's almost 4,000 meters or more than 13,000 feet altitude that we are talking about. Bloody impressive, I say.

Sunrise
Not yet, but we're getting there. We arrived the night before and that was our first impression of Gyantse. Doesn't really look like one of the three biggest cities of a country, does it?

Hotel Rooms
Very straightforward. Four to five beds. No water, well, not for washing. No heating. That's it.
